Andrew Parkes comments on the Capital Gains Tax benefits of being married

National Technical Director, Andrew Parkes, comments on the Capital Gains Tax benefits of being married, in The Daily Express.

Andrew’s comments were published in The Daily Express, 21 January 2024.

“Married couples (including civil partners) can generally give each other assets without CGT consequences; the tax savings can be very large, and the Government is happy with this.

“However, the transfer must be real. You cannot complain if you give your family heirloom to your spouse for tax purposes and they decide to burn it.”
